Centro Community Partners’ (Centro) mission is to serve, guide, and nurture aspiring low-income women and minority entrepreneurs become successful. Centro is a pilot project at OBDC Small Business Finance. With the financial support of OBDC, Centro provides business advisory services, capital, and volunteer MBA advisors to develop microenterprises and help them grow from startup to small business. We call ourselves Centro because in Spanish, Centro means, “center” and refers to the heart of the business community – El Centro. Centro’s value proposition is to provide a scalable, sustainable business model for microenterprise and entrepreneurial development that brings together low-income entrepreneurs, MBA student volunteer advisors, and capital to meet the needs of underserved industry sectors and communities. Our approach creates an entrepreneurial environment that fosters leadership, cultivates business competencies, and builds a solid foundation for the growth of successful entrepreneurs and enterprises.
