How do I Connect with a Mentor?

Connecting with a business mentor is simple. Here's how:

1. Your first step is to sign up, complete your Entrepreneur Profile, and create a Mentoring Request. A Mentoring Request describes a particular business challenge, and the goals you would like to achieve with a mentor. You can create new Mentoring Requests as you encounter new business challenges.
2. Once you create a Mentoring Request, it is added to our Mentoring Request database and you will start to receive Mentoring Offers from interested mentors. You can ask specific mentors for help by going Mentoring » Search Mentors, and sending a message to mentors that look like a good fit for you.
3. We will notify you with an email when interested mentors send you a Mentoring Offer, and you have 14 days to respond. Once you accept the Mentoring Offer that works best for you, we will exchange contact information via email and you can start working with your mentor.

Requirements to Work with a Mentor

What are the requirements for participating in MicroMentor?
Whether you are just getting started or you have been in business for 30 years, the most important requirement is that you are seriously committed to working on your business with a mentor. We ask that all participants treat others within the MicroMentor community with respect, and that participants put an honest effort into each mentoring relationship they establish. Entrepreneurs should expect to dedicate 6 hours per month to each mentoring relationship: 3 hours to working directly with the mentor and another 3 hours implementing the business solutions and recommendations discussed with the mentor.

Time Committment

While each mentoring relationship is unique, we recommend that you set aside 6 hours per month for 3 months for each of your mentoring relationships.

Working with Multiple Mentors

How many mentors can I work with at one time?
You may work with multiple mentors at the same time, however we ask that you limit yourself to three mentoring relationships at any given time. You may only choose one mentor per Mentoring Request.

How Long Does it Take to Get Matched?

It varies, however most entrepreneurs are matched within a few days to a few weeks. You can help this process by being proactive and using the Search for Mentors tab to find mentors that look like a good fit for you and send them a message asking for their help.

Can I Work with a Local Mentor?

MicroMentor is a national program, and most mentoring relationships take place remotely over email or telephone. However, you can search for mentors in your region by using the Located Near Me option in our Search for Mentors tab. Depending on your location, you may not find someone local right away, but we are growing every day.
