Q. I need instruction, to be able to communicate in the language of brass-casting and water-valve nomenclature.

I have a product idea for a water-saving device.  I've created the entire device in my garage except for the central  component, a valve to control a 1/2" waterline.  And I've reached a dead-end as I can't speak the language of the Brass-casting Industry.

I need to be able to communicate my needs....without giving my idea away...

Check out http://www.metalcastingzone.com. They offer free e-books on metal casting basics and a forum where you can post metal casting questions. The American Foundry Society offers lots of information on their website, http://www.afsinc.org, with links to many related sites. You'll also find links to CastExpo, the industry tradeshow.

Another great free resource is your local library. There you can get books on brass casting, brass forging, and just about any other subject.
