Q. How do you ask or approach development companies to partner or team with you to do their front end design work and usability?

They could offer user experience as an added value to grow their business and my firm could do the work behind the scenes or as a subcontractor.  I'm not sure team or partner is the right word.

Tammy, it is very simple: approach them and offer your services. Partner is the wrong word.  You are a vendor or supplier. Your question is not a legal one.  If one company literally wants to merge their business with yours, you will need a lawyer.

Are you an independent contractor?  Have you formed an S corp or LLC?  You might create a standard independent contractor agreement using Quicken Legal or form a corp using Nolo.
