- People need help, and they are very interested in you
- A mentor is one of the most valuable assets a person can have
What does a Mentor do?
- Mentors share wisdom on an ongoing basis
- Mentors listen and act as a sounding board for ideas
Things to keep in mind during a mentoring relationship:
- Remember, protégés that you work with may not have an MBA, but they are invested in their business and are working hard to be successful. Work withthem.
- Emphasize business basics. Do not take for granted that they know typical business practices.
- People have their own unique perspective. Recognizing this can lead to more successful and effective communication.
