Mentoring Relationship

Starting Your Relationship | Finding the Right Mentor

Sample Introduction Letter from Enterpreneur to Mentor

Your Introduction letter should include a thank you to your mentor for offering their help, a brief explanation of why you were interested in working with them, what you would like to achieve in the next few months and a suggestion for the next steps.

Dear {Mentor Name},

First of all, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for offering to mentor me. I really appreciate it and am looking forward to working with you.

I was interested in working with you because of your experience in opening new markets and creating marketing strategies. My business – Bones-R-Us – is at a crossroads because we’ve identified a niche market for organic dog bones and have created and tested our product, but we need some help in figuring out our marketing strategy.

I would really appreciate the opportunity to tell you more about it soon. Would you be available to talk by phone sometime in the next week? I’m generally very available from 5:00-7:00 PM Pacific Standard Time. You can call me at (111) 111-1111 or I would be happy to call you at a designated time if you would prefer that.

Once again, thank you in advance for your help – I’m really excited to start our mentoring relationship.

Best wishes,
{Your Name}
