As we celebrate Mentoring Month, MicroMentor is proud to expand our reach in the MENA region with the support of Google.org. As an innovation of Mercy Corps, our easy-to-use business mentoring platform will continue to provide crucial support to help small businesses build resilience and adapt to survive, retain jobs, and position themselves for recovery and growth through virtual mentoring.
With this initiative, we will harness our global community to empower 7,500 small businesses in the MENA region through business mentoring, reaching entrepreneurs like Sakher Alqawasmeh.
Sakher, a Jordan-based entrepreneur and designer, decided to turn his passion for game development into his career, and launched his business in 2019. Without previous business experience, Sakher recognized that he needed guidance to develop and grow his business. He turned to MicroMentor after being introduced to the platform at an event in Jordan, seeking advice on business planning, development, and marketing.
Without much budget to get his business off the ground, Sakher took advantage of MicroMentor’s free resources. As the pandemic shut down Amman and cities around the world, he made use of his quarantine time to connect with over 20 expert mentors who have been guiding him through developing his business and marketing his game.
With Earth Rage successfully available for download in the app store, Sakher is now growing his business and developing a new game. As he continues to work with mentors to develop his business, he is also passing along what he has learned and mentoring other young entrepreneurs.
With the support of Google.org, MicroMentor will connect small business owners like Sakher with the business mentoring resources they need to survive, grow, and thrive.
