Our challenge at light and hope is Poverty. It denies people of their basic needs such as; food, clean water, sanitation, healthcare, and education. It destroys hope, purpose, and self-worth. It infects hearts with isolation, apathy, dependency, disconnection, and addiction.

Over 40 women graduated this year from our empowerment program and most of them have already started up their businesses and now they are able to sustain their families. We also currently have 105 children in our child sponsorship program.

We work towards ensuring that in the next 3-5 years we continue to break the inter-generational cycle of poverty in our community by ensuring over 200 women are recruited in our sustainability empowerment program and education of over 500 children are sponsored through our network.

I am motivated to find a mentor who can pray, encourage and advise us on different aspects of our ministry as we continue to impact lives of the vulnerable people in our communities.

Light and Hope is a charity organization based in the informal settlements of Mathare-Kenya. We carry out empowerment program targeting the most vulnerable single mothers in the Mathare valley by enrolling them in different skills training such as bead-making, beauty and hairdressing, tailoring and catering. We show hundreds of people from impoverished backgrounds that they are resource-rich in ability, determination, ingenuity, and motivation.
