About my venture

Step-By-Step Child Literacy Academy

Even after several years in school, 80% of primary school leavers in Nigeria cannot read ( World Bank Report, 2018). UN statistics also show that 50 percent of Nigerian in-school children cannot read at all. And According to CBN Annual Report and Statement Account, this is an estimate of roughly 19 million children. These children cannot read because the whole-word (look-the-word-say-the-word) approach used in most primary schools in Nigeria does not show letter-sound relationships.

Step-by-Step Child Literacy House is an Institute that aims at improving reading abilities and habits among nursery and primary school children by exposing them to letter-sound complexities and relationships using simple reading passages, activities and the power of patterns - a shocking findings we discovered during an investigation of one of the children in our reading experiment. We organised our findings into a program and tested it with over 30 children and a good number of schools. The amazing results and feedbacks we got encouraged us to start up this literacy program. Step-By-Step is a sole proprietorship business that is supported by a reading specialist and a language professor.
