How I can help
My professional background
I have a diverse background across the Financial Services, Non-Profit, Real Estate and currently the Telecommunications/Technology industry. I received a BS in Psychology and Health Education and then went on to get my MBA in Business Management. I have working in the credit card industry doing credit analysis, risk management, direct response marketing. I evolved into roles in product development, product management and marketing program development in the telecommunications and non-profit industries. After 911 I lost me product development job and decided to pursue Real Estate where I got my entrepreneurial experience developing a business to sell residential real estate and learning how to do direct sales. During the dot.com boom I decided to go back to my telecommunications roots and embarked on a new profession in project management. I started doing IT project management working on software development initiatives; I grew into doing more complicated projects leading me to get my professional PMP, ACP and CSM certifications. Over the years I moved from IT project management, to enterprise project management to strategic program management. Today I work at Verizon in their Global Business Marketing organization doing strategic Portfolio and Program management for the Public Sector (Fed, State, Local & Education, Public Safety) segment. I lead teams to develop program structures around their strategic initiatives to ensure that there is a defined schedule, budget, ownership and accountability to achieve the program/portfolio goals and objectives.
How to work with me
What I can offer
I can offer coaching, advice and examples of my real world experiences in helping teams structure a manageable project and/or program to drive set goals and objectives and to facilitate how to execute the plan.
My expectations for a successful mentoring relationship
I expect the mentee to have a reasonable expectation about how much advice and guidance I can provide to them. I am providing the benefit of my project and program management experience to help them understand how to organize and make sense of seemingly overwhelming or unattainable body of work that needs to be done to achieve specific goals and objectives.
How entrepreneurs can prepare before we start
A clearly defined overview of the problem/issue that they are trying to address. A list of questions or examples of roadblocks, issues they are facing so that we can discuss ways to answer and/or mitigate these.
