What I need help with
My background as an entrepreneur
My current challenges
I've spent the majority of my time mastering the technical aspects of my business. After launch, however, I came to realize I fall short in operations and accounting.
Actions I’ve taken so far
I launched Helios.web in early 2021. I've helped 20+ entrepreneurs and freelancers start their online ventures. I have built over 10 websites and worked on over 40 graphic design projects.
My future goals
My short term goal (6 months) is to empower at least 100 people to start their digital ventures. My long term goal is to create a platform that helps budding entrepreneurs and freelancers easily market their products and services to a global audience. By providing extensive educational resources, I hope to indirectly put a dent on the unemployment of youths in Africa.
My motivations to work with a mentor
This is my first startup, and I realize I need mentors with extensive experience in management and business strategy for it to be a success. I recognize the need for experienced mentors who will provide new perspectives and critiques. I recognize the need for a mastermind group to help me clarify my ideas and vision.
About my venture
Helios.web Started 2021
Helios.web is a digital marketing agency that targets freelancers and e-commerce entrepreneurs. The unemployment problem is global and presents a particularly difficult labor market experience for youth. In Africa especially, unemployment and underemployment continue to be major obstacles to the full utilization of human resources despite relatively strong growth in the region over the last decade. While the internet has opened up opportunities in developed countries, very few individuals in Africa have been able to tap into these global markets. Our goal, then, is to help them monetize their talents and skills, by providing digital marketing services such as graphic design and web development. We also seek to empower and educate, by mentoring and providing easily accessible educational resources.
