My professional background

I have spent most of my career working in consumer goods marketing for some of the most successful companies in their respective industries. While I joined these organizations expecting to learn "the best way", what I instead learned was that there is no best way, at least not for very long. Even the best companies need to constantly evolve and update outdated or even failing strategies and processes. My strength became to be that guy, the intrapreneur, who pushed for change and who championed the bold ideas. I've turned around several failing business units and turned them to growth. I've been used as creative consultant on many advertising campaigns. I've led multiple change projects to improve operations. The common denominator is that I combine strategic thinking with hard data and creative ideas. It generates results.

What I can offer

Overall I am excited about overcoming any business challenge and finding optimal solutions to them. To be a little more concrete though I have two areas that I am especially passionate about.

  1. Identifying, researching and designing the offering. What are we providing to who, and why?
  2. Communicating that offering. What do they need to know, and where do we reach them?

I have also specialized in digital marketing which is a great tool to generate demand with limited risk, ensuring there is immediate payback on the investment.

My expectations for a successful mentoring relationship

Bring specific questions, expect concrete answers, put in hard work. As a mentor I cannot do the work for you, nor can I help if you don't know where you are at.

How entrepreneurs can prepare before we start

Think through the topics they need help on and be prepared to give a condensed summary of them. The better the background is the more relevant the answers will be. Great marketing is based on great insight.
