Where can I find a LEGIMATE source to apply for a govt GRANT to expand my business? I have researched several sources online and found they are "scams".

Valerie, it sounds like you are a small business.  I suggest you contact your local Small Business Assocation office.  Tell you them are a small business and pose your question.

First of all alot of the "scans" you have found are businesses that are trying to generate an income. The government posts grant opportunties on their website at  www.grants.gov There are many steps needed to be taken in order to apply for grants so the best option would be to visit your local SBA office. You can also visit (if applicable) your local economic development agency.

Start at your library. Most libraries have a few introductory and/or list books with respect to grants. Other sources include your local Chamber of Commerce which has a vested interest in your local success and they generally have their ears to the ground, so to speak. A bit farther fetched but another good source may be your congressman. Kay Frazer's comments are also quite accurate.
