In the US, some nursing staffing companies are doing well and others are struggling. Due to the stay-at-home orders among various states, nurses providing care in some medical offices and hospitals have been furloughed or had hours reduced. Those in emergency rooms are fully booked, working 12-hour shifts. What is your particular area of interest?

Hi. I have a staffing/consulting business with 15+ years in talent acquisition.

In general, recruiting/staffing is cyclical. The pandemic has affected recruiting in all functions across all industries, including healthcare, but some agencies are thriving because of it.

I'm not sure what specific valuable information you're looking for but here are some tips to guide you to how to get that information:

  • Do some competitive research (start with a simple Google search of staffing businesses that focus on nursing and look at clients they've worked with, recent placement success stories, open roles they're recruiting for, etc.)
  • Do a search on posted nursing roles (Careerbuilder, Indeed, Glassdoor, LinkedIn, and specific nursing job portals) and see who's hiring to get a sense for demand (either the healthcare organization or the agency that's working with the healthcare organization).
  • Survey nurses in your area and ask them your specific nursing recruiting questions.
  • Reach out to nursing/healthcare recruiters (you can find them on LinkedIn or do another Google search) and ask them your specific nursing recruiting questions.

These actions should be a good starting point for understanding the nursing staffing market.

Good luck!
