Hello, I have created a survey specifically for business owners and entrepreneurs and sent it to around 200 people. I just need to know how to determine the survey's success and validity.

Hello and thanks for your question.

When sending something like this I recommend using a survey tool. This will allow you to view reporting on your response rate within the interface.

I don't know from your question whether you used a tool or service. If you did, please indicate what you used and I may be able to advise on how to view stats.

If you are not familiar with these tools,I recommend starting with a well known service. I try not to promote any specific businesses here but a quick search for "online survey tools" will yield the most relevant players.

Hello Mr.Daniel Thank you for your reply and I am really sorry for replying back late. Yes, I used a survey tool called, SurveyMonkey. I went with the free plan and I did the distribution myself; however, I don't know if there is a way to determine the performance of the survey.

Thanks for your response.

Instructions for SurveyMonkey:

  • Sign into SurveyMonkey
  • Click the Survey you wish to get results from
  • Click the "Analyze results" tab. Here is where you can select "summary data","all responses" or "individual responses".
  • The download feature is only available to paid versions but you should be able to review or print from within the free tool.

Cheers Daniel -

Use an online survey platform that will provide you stats on how many were sent out, how many had replies, how many were opened, but maybe didn't reply,. Do research to determine what a good response rate is and compare your results to the industry standard. Also, look at the construction of your survey - did you make it easy to take? Was it too long/short, were the responses actionable or did it leave you still wondering about what the data told you? Reach out to some data scientist to help you understand the results and possibly give you pointers on different questions and constructs for your next survey.

I have participated in many surveys online and offline. If I participate in any survey, I have to be very honest while answering their questions. The survey's main aim is to get honest feedback from the people. Recently, I participated in the Home Depot customer satisfaction survey at www.homedepot.com/survey official site. Home Depot is an American-based home improvement company, and the survey's primary purpose is to get honest feedback from the customers for better services. As an appreciation from the company, customers who participated in the Home Depot survey will get a $5000 gift card for free.
